This has been made into a movie, havent seen the movie yet.

The book was good, felt as if a blog was put together as a book, which it is actually is.

I liked to read it, as I quite identified with the part of making resolutions & then scrambling to achieve it..I very often do that…this by weekend, 5 kg less by March..blah blah..though I dont succeed spectacularly as she did.

Hers is 265 receipes of French cooking in 365 days

All foodies & sort of people who love to watch MasterChef would like this book.

Man, Bill Bryson is hilarious!! A quick stress buster tip: Just read anything by him before you nod off. Coupla times, i almost rolled off the bed laughing..espec his American’s description of cricket commentry ( a very funny other side view for us cricket fanatics)

Totally irreverent but very informative travelogue about Down Under that’s Australia..and I guess pun is intended by Bill ;)

A breezy chic-lit for Indian girls, espec Tam-Brams by a Tam-Bram. Good one to curl up on a cozy afternoon / flight.

Okayish, was a light reading after emotional rigors of To Kill a MockingBird.

By Harper Lee

An all-time classic, must read. Cant believe I read this book so late in my life.

The book talks about racial discrimination in US but really forces us for some serious introspection.

Ok, I am sooo late in posting that it pretty much fails my attempt to chronicle my reading resolution of 2010.

I kept putting off writing the blog to get more time for a better review, but it seemed to never happen.

I have been really busy / failed @ time management and its going to getw orse, so guess I thought I would just post the list of already read books with a one liner impression.

Better than nothing.

Hopefully 2011 would be better.

So book 10: The Help by Kathryn Stockett

A book set in early 60′s about the “black” domestic help in Deep South & a white woman’s coming of age.

Poignant yet humourous . Had so many references to “To kill a mockingbird” that inspired me at last buy the book & read it.

I’m not sure if this is a book or a booklet at slim 40 pages, but author Seth Godin calls it a book is good enough for me.

I found this link yetserday while reading his blog which I find very insightful like thousands of others. Seth has published a free addendum to his famous book Linchpin, called “the insubordinatee”

This book lists 40 people who have shown initiative, and craved their own path & careers by employing resources & will & mind which is commonly available to all of us. An inspiring & thought provoking read like most of his views.

This is a delightful collection of really short  40 fictional stories of “fights” between husbands & wives.

The style is easy, witty & really insightful. Some ends shock you, same make you laugh, some make you gape while some make you sigh but not one is predicatble.

I had never heard of this author before, but the book was a pleasant surprise. His perceptiveness & wry observations about couples in the world’s most paradoxical yet enduring bond are spot-on.

The stories are also varied from young couples, couples in different ages, different countries, different stages of marraiges, affairs etc and make a nice mix.

Definitely a recommended read for anybody who is been in a committed relationship or who is curious for a peek in emotionally intimate world of couples.

This is the first collection of John Grisham’s short stories and set in rural southern states of US quite like the rest of his novels.

The stories are pretty straightforward and lack much color or style, you will be disappointed if you expect “Twist in a Tale”.

Recommended for a train ride when your ipod has run out of its juice.

A typical run-of-the mills & boon, pop-corn reading..the only interesting twist was 3 tales with time-travel as a common theme..got it dirt cheap on sale..

I cant even the see book on Amazon..the one which srearch shows up is not this one, what literary choice!
